Happy Birthday Sharon!

Happy Birthday to Sharon. Here she is a Spaghettini's at Will's CD Release Party. Sharon and I are like sisters. We've been friends for 25 years...since our girls were in dance and kindergarten together. We've had lots of adventures together and we know so many secrets that if we weren't friends, we'd have to kill each other! Love ya, Girlfriend!

Love Finds Andy Hardy

Sunday afternoon I spent watching "Andy Hardy." I love these movies with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. I love it that Andy's biggest problem was how to pay for his car and having two girls to take to the Christmas Dance. When I was growing up I thought everyone lived like the Hardys. I loved their 2-story house and their little town where everyone knew everyone.
I wanted to go have sodas at the drug store and go to the dance and look as cute as and sing like Judy Garland.

My love of movies started by watching TV. All these wonderful, classic movies were on TV when I was growing up. My dad and I used to watch the "Fabulous 52" every weekend. We'd make popcorn (still love it) and watch movies. My mom wasn't so into movies...she usually went to bed. My dad used to take me out for dinner (hamburgers) and a movie every so often when my mom had a women's meeting at church.
I'd still rather watch a movie than most shows on TV.

Thankful Thursday

I made it just under the wire. Sometimes I'm working on Thursdays and don't get to use the computer until late in the evening.

These scenes of the beach and the ocean are what I'm thanking God for this evening. There's something about the ocean that just lifts my spirit and makes me happy. The sound of the waves relaxes me. I love the sights, the sounds of the birds and the smell of the sea. I love the feel of sand beneath my feet and the breeze in my hair. I love to look for shells and rocks and to sit and watch the water and the boats.

Oak Glen

One of my favorite places to go in the fall is Oak Glen. We go every year in September or October to picnic and look at the beautiful scenery.

Snow-Line is also a great place to go around Christmas time. They have hot cider and mini cinnamon donuts.

This is the village where you can buy souvenirs, candy, caramel apples and meals.

A great place for history field trips. They do civil war and colonial re-enactments.

Just beautiful scenery.

All pictures are from the internet.

Monday Movie

I went to see "Righteous Kill" yesterday afternoon. It's fun to see Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro together again. I enjoyed it even though it's probably more of a "man's" movie: lots of action--no romance. Still I've loved Al Pacino since he was Michael Corleone. He was the best looking man. He had it...still does!
Looking good for 68.

Just wanted to say thank you to Melissa (long overdue) for this award. Her link is on my blog roll: "Sunbonnet Cottage." She has a wonderful blog. Please visit her and say "Hi."
My choices to receive this award (all are on my blog roll) are:
1. Jacaranda Cottage
2. My Little Cottage in the Making
3. Tales From an O.C. Cottage
4. Housepeepers
5. Equs Villa

All of the blogs on my roll are fun to read and they all deserve this award!
Hugs, Susan

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday time again! I have so much to be thankful for and I have no excuse for a bad attitude. I've been letting myself get in a rut. Not OK! We have so much...sometimes I feel overwhelmed taking care of stuff. Right now I'm trying to weed out and recycle and simplify. These are the things I'm thankful for (not in any order): Caren, my daughter; my friends, blogging friends; being able to live at the beach for a week; good health; music; laughter; some talents I need to stop wasting; a trip coming up to Savannah; my pets; all of God's beauty and about a million other things!

Time to get back to cleaning! Love ya!

I'm Back From Carlsbad

I'm back minus pictures. I took the camera but no directions...they were not in the camera bag and I'm blaming Don because he took them out.

It was beautiful in Carlsbad. We went to the Outlet Center. We took walks and relaxed and visited. Ron and Eddie (Sharon's brothers) barbequed. They're both great cooks! It was a fun time!

Usually I'm late with this but I thought I might as well get an early start since I'm up still. Tonight I'm thankful that we had a fairly mild summer for Riverside. Sometimes we have temps that are over 100 degrees for several days to a week. This summer we only had the really hot weather for only a few days. I'm also thankful for the trips to Carlsbad and Savannah that are coming soon. I've been truly blessed with a lot of good things in my life.

Carlsbad Vacation

My friend Sharon and I are going to Carlsbad on Sunday, September 7. We have a timeshare condo there. This is the pool area.

The Lobby.

The outside of the resort. We're really looking forward to this vacation. We have lots of friends and family coming down on different days. Sharon and I are staying all week. Can't wait to live at the beach if only for a week!
