Chloe

This is Chloe, AKA the Love Slut. She is Caren's cat. Chloe adopted us. She appeared in our garage one day and decided to stay. We put food out for her. She was a bit afraid of us at first. I think she was abandoned when the people across the street moved out. I never saw her before but once she made friends with us she was very affectionate. That made me think she had been someone's pet. She was very young, hardly more than a kitten when she came to us.

I know I was going to post about the Del Mar Fair but that didn't work out. First I forgot my camera. Then my friend, Sharon, got sick after a few hours so we left early. It was a beautiful day and I would love to go down there again and see more of the fair. Sharon's OK now --just a 24 hour bug. If I don't get a chance to go this year, I'll for sure go next summer.

Del Mar Fair

Tomorrow Sharon and I are going to the San Diego County Fair AKA The Del Mar Fair. It's been several years since we've gone. It's about an hour and a half drive from Riverside to Del Mar. The above picture is of the Fun Zone.

This is the Garden Show at the fair. These pictures are courtesy of About Town in San Diego (taken off the web). I'm taking a camera so hopefully I can post some of my own pictures in a day or so.
Be back soon......

Garden Flowers

I thought I'd share some flower pictures from my front yard. I don't really have a pretty garden to post. These roses are at the edge of my driveway. These were given to me as gifts at various times when I was teaching so I planted them and they've done pretty well.
These are lantana. I love them because they grow like weeds and look so pretty. They are so easy!

More lantana...I try to get all the colors I can.
I've been tagged by Joanne from "My Little Cottage in the Making" and I'm excited because some people are reading my blog. The rules are to answer the 5 questions and tag 5 people. I'm shy about tagging others but feel free to be tagged if you want to do this.
1. What were you doing 10 years ago? I was teaching preschool in Fontana. I've taught ages 3 up to 4th grade going back and forth between preschool and elementary school...where ever I was needed. This was kind of my mission field since I feel children are so important.
2. What are the 5 things on my "To Do" list.
Finish painting the kitchen (walls and cabinets).
"Spring clean" the master bedroom including closet and dresser (I know I'm a little late with
this since it's already summer).
Do the dishes (I can manage this).
Wrap a baby shower gift for the shower later today (I have to get this done).
Wash some clothes (another have to do or I will be running around naked).
3. Snacks I enjoy: chocolate, Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches, Ritz crackers with "lite" cream
cheese, fresh fruit.
4. Things I would do if I were a "multi" millionaire: Buy my house at the beach, travel around
the world, give this house to Caren (she wants it so much), give to cancer research and pet
rescues.
5. Places I have lived: Mossyrock, Washington; Fullerton, CA; Corona, CA; Brea, CA; and
Riverside, CA.

Will's CD Release Party

I finally got the pictures from Will's CD party at Spaghettini's onto the computer. Yea! I am not the most computer literate person and every time I learn to do something on the computer, I am thrilled. Spaghettini's is a beautiful restaurant. The food is great, too! This is Will playing to the crowd.

Jill enjoying the music!

Jennifer (in the green satin) with some friends. Jennifer is Eddie's girlfriend. Eddie is Will's bass player. He's extremely talented, too. Unfortunately, I didn't get any good pictures of him or the rest of the band. It was really hard to get close to the stage because there were so many people.

This is my friend Sharon and I with another musician, Dennis Jones. Dennis isn't in Will's band but was there on a date. Dennis is a fabulous blues singer and guitarist.
The party was lots of fun!

Where I Want to Be

I want to be here!!! This is Kauai...my favorite place on earth. Today in Riverside it is supposed to be 108 degrees. OH, NO, MR. BILL! The cats are laying around like they are dead. Jake doesn't even want to go outside and he loves to be outside. We are all limp like wet noodles.
We have had no "June Gloom." Summer has arrived with a blast of hot air. This is a day for hanging out in the movies or the mall.

My computer has been acting up, too. I wasn't able to get onto the internet for 2 days. So I have some catching up to do. I'll probaby do my "tagged" post this evening, if I can.

Late Lunch at Victoria Gardens

Just a short post tonight. My friend Sharon and I went to Victoria Gardens for a late lunch this afternoon. We ate at The Corner Bakery. This is a great place for soup, salads and sandwiches and of course cookies, brownies, bars and tarts. Sharon also went with me to Will's CD Release Party on Saturday night at Spaghettini's. I'll have more about our adventures there and some pictures soon.

Have a Happy Monday! Susan

Dream Cottage

This is the little yellow house I wish I had. This cutie is a beach cottage with lots of charm. My dream cottage doesn't have to be big, it just has to have old-fashioned character.

I decided to play tag. Don't worry, I'm not tagging anyone, just playing the game. This is because I'm easily amused.

Two names you go by: Susan and Susie.

Two things you are wearing. I'm wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

Two of my favorite things: White cottage furniture and Calex cologne.

Two things you want badly at the moment. I want a house at the beach and some ice water.

Two favorite pets you have now or have had. This has to be Meekie (who else?) and Jake. Max didn't make the cut because he's bitten me one too many times. He has teeth like a vampire or a saber tooth tiger.

Two things you did last night. I played with Jake and talked on the phone. (Could it be more exciting than that?).

Two things you ate last night. Light cream cheese and crackers. (I am so healthy.)

Two people you last talked to: Caren and my friend Carolyn.

Two things you are doing tomorrow. I'm going to Will's CD Release party and washing the car...not in that order.

Two farthest trips you've taken in the last 5 years. I went to Hawaii and to Williamsburg, Virginia.

Two favorite beverages: ice tea and Asti Spumonti.

Feel free to play along. I found these questions on "Sweet Nothings."

My Fur Children

This is Jake. Jake is half doxie and half ???? He's tiny but thinks he's a big dog. We say he's a toy Rottweiler. He's extremely smart, very cute and loves to run! I had to name him Jake so that he had a manly name. He can't be little and have a sissy name, right? Because he loves our cats and grew up with them, he kind of thinks he's one of them. Of course he is their brother.

This is Max. Max is the Alpha Dog of the group. The big brother. Of course he thinks he is the head of the household and rules over the others. He does not know he is a cat.

This is the beautiful Meekie. Her name is Amica (girlfriend in Italian. Meekie is not really a cat. We believe she is a space alien. She is the Queen of Zorg (an undiscovered planet). When we got her she did not know how to meow, purr, hiss or use other cat words. She went "Acck, Acck." She slept in her cat box and relieved herself on the papers in her cage at the shelter. She had no clue as to proper cat behavior and was taught how to be a cat by Max. That did not stop her from showing Queenly behavior at all times. Each night she goes on our patio and we believe she communes with the mother ship. We are awaiting the take over by the other Zorgites with some nervousness. It could be any day now. I am Meekie's human servant which may save me during the take over.
Missing from this post is Chloe, my daughter's cat. Chloe is gray and white. We call her "dirty girl" because she loves to get up in the rafters of our garage and get all dusty. Her other nickname is "Love Slut" as she would like to sit and be petted for eternity. She also kisses up to the humans. I don't believe Meekie will allow her on the mother ship.

CD Party

On Saturday, Will is having his CD release party. I got this dress to wear. It's on sale, too!

The party is at Spagettini's in Seal Beach. This is a great restaurant that features jazz artists. It should be a great time. If you're in the area please drop in and listen to some fabulous music.

Dream Cottages

Isn't this so pretty? This could be my Little Yellow House at the beach. I wish!!! I love the pickett fence and the yellow wooden walls with blue trim.

This is in Florida I think but I'd have it built in Hawaii. Looks like it would fit right in there.
This charming place is only about $2,500,000. A bargain really. Love that double stairway to the porch.

Another cutie! I would love any of these homes. Well, who wouldn't love them? My dream house doesn't have to be big-- just pretty and by the sea.
I didn't make it out to Indian Wells tonight. It takes about an hour and a half to drive out there and when I got home from work, I was really tired. I stayed up too late Wednesday night on the web (of course). So I'll probably go Saturday night out there or Sunday to Balboa to see them. What happened to all the energy I had a few years back? My mom used to say "My get up and go...got up and went!" Now I know what she meant.
Have a great weekend! Hugs,
Susan

Renaissance Esmeralda

Tonight I'm going here to the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells to see Art of Sax ( AKA "the band"). The Esmeralda is beautiful as you can see. The band plays in Club Stir at 8 pm on Thursdays. I don't have a picture of the club but it's very upscale without being too expensive.

Will has a new CD out called "Laws of Attraction." If you are in the Palm Springs area be sure and check out AOS and the Esmeralda. The guys are there Wednesday through Saturday in the evening. Show times vary from 5:00 until 9:00. I know I keep plugging them but they are great guys and good friends.
Lots of Love, Susan

Pre-histeric Wall Painting

Yes, this is what I need right now. I started painting my kitchen walls. I really think this guy could be a big help to me. He's a little young but cute...and it would be nice to watch him get to work. Better him than me!

I'm doing an accent wall in Pale Tidepool by Valspar paints from Lowes. You know I am into the ocean colors. It's a pale seafoam green. I wanted a color behind my floral plates that hang on this wall. Then I'm going to paint the cabinets a warm white and change the handles...maybe to green glass.

Since we won't be moving until the housing market goes up, I want to make this house as cute as I can. I have time now even if I don't have as much money as when I was working full-time. There's always a trade off of some kind.

Hugs, Susan
