Cheery Title, Huh?

I'm having trouble uploading photos for my blog. Don't know why Blogger won't let me. That's why I missed Thankful Thursday. I am thankful though.

Lately I've had a bad attitude. Really bored and blah. Then I started reading some blogs about other people's problems and I am ashamed! There is nothing wrong with me...well that I couldn't fix. I mean no major problems, no health crisis, no money crisis, we're not losing our home or anything really bad. This I am thankful for.

I thought to myself (who else would I think to?) I need to do something for someone else for a change. Figure out what I would like to do to use my talents to give back to life. Isn't that what God wants? For us to help others and not be so self-centered? No wonder I was bored...just sitting on my buttina* (psuedo Italian word) and not doing anything constructive.

*Buttina started when Caren came back from a semester in Italy and barely spoke English. She was so in love with Italy (esp. Siena) that she used Italian words all the time. So I used to make up fake Italian words in self defense.

That's how Meekie got her name. (Caren's love for anything Italian). It's really Amica (Italian for female friend). I love it when the vet says "Am ick uh" reminding me of the Amityville horror movie which is probably closer to her real personality. Remember she is plotting to take over the earth with her cohorts from Zorg. (See earlier posts).

Anyway, it's time to do something instead of just sitting on my a*s.

Thankful Thursday (a little late)

This is so like me to be late. Our family is kind of notorious for running late. So here I am coming in on Friday. Every day I am thankful for so many things.

Today I was thinking about my health. Last fall I was having a hard time with some minor things. I had tendonitis in my shoulder and I couldn't raise my arm. It was really painful but really nothing like some people have suffered through. Then I had a bad kidney infection which did scare me. That was kind of serious. BUT now I am blessed with good health.

So thank you God that I am well and life is looking good!

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday and will be every Thursday from now on. This idea came from Rhondi @ Rose Colored Glasses. I want to be more grateful for my blessings each day. I truly am blessed. Today I'm thankful for all the new friends I've made while blogging. It's so much fun to have people write comments and fun to leave them too. I think it just turned into Friday but I'm still thankful.

A Mini for Me

Today we went to lunch and then for a test drive in one of these. Very cute, very comfortable and a pretty smooth ride for such a small car. The one we're thinking about is a 2005...gently used. It looks brand new. Time will tell if it's the one for me. I'm hoping so 'cos it was a pretty good deal, too. Bye the way, it's red, too! Basically I fell in love at first sight!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

It was very hot yesterday so I thought what could be better than to sit in a cool theater and look at Brendan Frasier for a while. So I saw this:

I really enjoyed the movie. I think it's kind of a kid's movie. Pre-teens would love it for the special effects and action. I didn't get to see it in 3-D which I think the kids would really like.

For me, Brendan was enough especially when he wore a tank top. It's funny 'cos to me he's a kid but now he's playing the father figure. Seems like only yesterday he was "Encino Man." Time marches on...but on the inside I'm only about 25. I think we baby boomers will never grow up.

Mermaid Soap

I found this picture on Clarice's blog "Storybook Woods." I have it as a metal sign for Mermaid Soap. It's hanging in the master bathroom. That's where I have my "beachy" stuff until we move to the beach. I've been collecting mermaids, shells, shell themed dishes and beach pictures for about three years. I hope I get to put all these things in my beach cottage soon.

If I Am Missing or Dead

I stayed up all night reading this touching book. It is excellent. I couldn't put it down. It's the story or two sisters and their relationships with each other, men and family. Every woman will recognize herself somewhere in the book. I know the title sounds a little morbid but it is a "must read."
