Robert Mitchum

I always thought Robert Mitchum was sexy. He's one of the original "bad boys." My DVD player isn't working right (time to get a new one) so I dragged out an old video of "Night of the Hunter." This movie scared me when I was a child. Shelley Winters' hair flowing under water...Eeeek!

This is such a great movie, beautiful photography and eerie, beautiful music. Robert Mitchum: Handsome, pyschotic, singing hymns and praying....a serial killer. He's attractive and scary and evil.

Lillian Gish is the perfect mother to orphaned children. Anyway, I've always loved this movie. It's fascinating and creepy but heart-warming, too. Check it out sometime.

Sorry these photos are so small but I don't know how to enlarge them. All photos from the internet.

Lily of the Valley

Just a few pictures of my favorite flower: Lily of the Valley. This is the flower for May and it's used for Bridal Bouquets. I was married in December and couldn't get it for my bouquet.

I love it so much. I wish I could grow it here in Riverside but it gets too hot. I tried to grow it inside once but it was not happy and died.

Claremont Folk Festival

Yesterday Sharon, Mary Linda, Scott, Marie, Blaike, Johnny and I went here.

We saw Jackson Browne. This was a fun event but I wasn't feeling well so I left after Jackson Browne played. This event was festival style. Everyone had blankets and beach chairs on the lawn. Great place for a picnic. Jackson is still cute after all these years.

Yesterday we celebrated Caren's and my birthdays by going out to lunch at Market Broiler here in Riverside. They have remodeled the restaurant and changed the menu but the fish is still delicious! I had shrimp and scallops. Yum!

My husband, Don brought home Coconut Cake for me (minus the candles). I didn't take a picture of my little cake. This one is Paula Deen's. I love Coconut Cake. We call it "White Death" because it's so good and sweet and if you eat too much you feel sick. Very easy to do, too.

Caren wanted this: Lemon Pie. So we bought one from Marie Callenders' Restaurant which is right next door to Market Broiler. My oven is not working so no baking for me right now but even if I could bake this pie, it would never match my mother's. I think Caren likes it because when I was pregnant with her, I had a craving for it and my mom made the best one for me. She made excellent pies. The one we bought isn't even close!

So we had a nice lunch with Caren and her boyfriend Paul. Afterwards they went to work on Caren's house and I went to see Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey. Cute romantic comedy! Don took a nap because he'd been working all night at Disneyland.
Hugs! Susan
