Happy New Year! I'm still around...I've just been hanging out on Facebook. Look under Susan Drysdale if you want to find me there. It's a new year and time for some new things but I'm back to blogging again. I needed a break during the Holidays.

I'm starting some major decorating work on my house which is going to be known as the inland beach house since I have all this beachy stuff and we can't move yet. Hopefully the housing market will go up again soon so we can sell this and move to the beach.

I have some things I want to cover up on the kitchen window wall. I saw online that you can paint and add texture with tissue paper. Just paint, add tissue and paint some more. I'm going to try it so I'll let you know what happens.

I'm also back on my health kick with some facebook friends. We're doing a "biggest loser" thing...putting $10. in the pot and whoever loses the most each month gets the money. I was going to Jenny Craig and lost about 15 lbs and gained about 5 over Christmas but still I'm down 10. Too many pralines and Sees candies! I should've stayed with Jenny but it was getting expensive with Christmas coming on.

Fashion Friday

Since the holidays are coming quickly, I thought I'd show some party dresses. These are all from Igigi. I love this sexy, lacy dress that shows off a little cleavage but covers flaws (like chubby arms.

This is the detail of the following dress. Very similar to the first but the lace is different.

These are my kind of party dresses!

A slim sheath with jeweled neckline.

A basic black dress to play with but still with the figure flattering assets.

Tomorrow I'm off to Griffith Park Observatory with Meetup friends. This place reminds me of James Dean and "Rebel Without a Cause" since a lot of that movie was filmed there. And then on Sunday to a Glitzy Red Hat Luncheon. Pictures to follow.

Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Lucerne Valley

Here's out Meetup group having a group picture with the wolves. Our guide was getting them (and us) to howl.

These are all wolves not dogs.

I get to pet a howling wolf!

These wolves have all been rescued from private owners and all were raised in captivity. They can't be released to the wild because they wouldn't survive.

I love wolves. They are my favorite wild animals that are found in the states.

Saying "Hi" to us.

This trip was on Sunday and well worth the drive from Riverside (about 2 hours)! It was about 80 degrees that day. In the summer it can be over 110 degrees so the sanctuary has terrific water bills to keep the wolves cool. You can find out more at wolfmountainsanctuary.com

Will at the Kyoto Grand Hotel for the WAVE

This is the add for the show. I got there at 5:30, the band was setting up and people were in line. They weren't pleased that I got in ahead of them. "Being with the band" has its' perks!
Jennifer and I (and a few others) got to sit in overstuffed chairs right behind the dance floor. This was as close as you could get...AKA the VIP section!

Fashion Friday and a plug for Will

Will is going to be at the Kyoto Grand Hotel in Los Angeles on October 29 (next Thursday). If you are in the L.A. area come out to see him and his band featuring Eddie Reddick. The show starts at 7 pm. Doors open at 6 pm. You WILL enjoy the show! He is fantastic!

Now for the fashions: I'm not much of a shirt girl but the sleeves on this make it really cute.

Print cardigan sweater for fall. It looks pretty with a black skirt or pants, even jeans if you want to be more casual.

I really like this satin bow and the longer length on this pretty Tee.

Even shoes have to have a little something, something like these buckles.

Nice "twenties" vibe on these shoes. They look like something a "flapper" would wear.

All these cuties are from Lane Bryant. They are really getting stylish. I love this one bare shoulder look. That's such a big trend right now.

Cute print tee for casual days.

I actually have this for when I go to see "The Band" and I'm feeling a little wild.

This dress is actually purple, not blue. Cute style for work.

Scoop neck sweater that comes in lots of colors. These go with everything and can be dressed up or down depending on what you wear with it.

Another one I have. I'm wearing it in a previous post.

I love red. Very pretty embellished tee to wear with jeans.

I love the fall colors in this.

Cute animal print. Another trend that's practically a classic by now. I love the purple...an "in" color for fall.

This was listed under career dresses. It's way too sexy for the office. I'd wear it for a date night.

I'm going to see a play of "Night of the Living Dead" and "The Rocky Horror Show" tonight. I'm in the Halloween mood.

First I thought I'd share a picture of Shellie, Will, Sharon and Me at Humphreys last Friday. If you live in San Diego, Humphreys is a fun place to be at. Will's shows are always great! (I don't really like my picture in this but everyone else looks good).

OK, now for the fashions. This is a little over the top but I like it. I'm so short, I'm sure it would be longer on me by atleast 2-3 inches and I could wear it with leggings. Kind of a "groupie" dress for when I go out dancing with the band. I like the design of the dress.

Now this I love! It's burgundy and I love the style and the print. This one I might buy.

Both dresses are from Alight.com. They're having a big sale right now, too.

My New Things for Fall

I thought I'd share the new things I got for fall. I fell in love with this pretty leaf dish. I love the colors. It's a smaller chip and dip dish.

This is my pumpkin teapot from Wendie's on Main Street.

This is just a cute ceramic pumpkin that was about $5.00. I have a lot of fall and Halloween decor so I probably won't buy anything else this year for fall decorating.

Tonight's the last night of the Sheraton Concert season of Art of Sax so I'm going tonight. Then Sharon and I are going to Humphrey's in San Diego for that show too.

Breakfast at Cecilia's

Friday our "Girlfriends" meet up had breakfast at Cecilia's house. I had a wonderful time with some really friendly, fun women. Everyone brought something yummy to eat. I'm really loving meet ups!
Tomorrow our family is going to Oak Glen. The boy (he's 16) who set the fires around that area is in jail. All these fires are terrible and Oak Glen is a really lovely area of apple farms and a charming little town.

This is part of the Meet up group that went to Magic Castle on Saturday night. Our group had 28 people. Magic Castle is a private club for Magicians. It is in a Victorian house in Hollywood. We had a tour of the place, dinner and of course fabulous magic shows. The magic was amazing...just unbelievable things were done! It was lots of fun!

This is how I felt yesterday!! I had such a busy weekend. I went to Oak Glen on Saturday with a Meetup group. Lots of fun! Then on Sunday I went to a Red Hat luncheon and fashion show in San Diego. When I got home I was so tired! I went to bed at about 7 o'clock!

I feel much better now...time to get to work. Well, after I look at some blogs!

I am in love with the color of this dress. This is something I would wear out to see my favorite band. Nice for going out to dinner.

Getting Ready for Fall

I'm really in the mood for fall...now if the weather would cooperate! Atleast it's only in the nineties now.

I love these "Hilda" pin-ups. My dad used to tease my mom that she posed for them. Now it looks like I posed for them. I saw one on Kat's blog the other day and looked up a bunch more.

This afternoon I'm off to see Art of Sax at the Cerritos Sheraton. This is always lots of fun!

I finally found my birth certificate and got pictures done at Triple A so I can get a passport. Everyone keeps wondering where I'm going. I just want to have it in case I decide to go somewhere fun.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Sunday I went to the Aquarium of the Pacific with some Meetup Friends. This is the Inland Empire Travel group. I'm in the black and white top. We checked out the Aquarium and had lunch at Bubba's Shrimp across the street. Nancy (in green) is our fearless leader and planning lots of trips for us to take. I really enjoyed the Aquarium esp. petting the sharks!

Tonight the Band (Art of Sax) is at the Sheraton in Cerritos. It's lots of fun...so come out if you live in the area. They start playing at 6 pm. The music is fabulous! The buffet is yummy and under $10.00!

Last night Sharon and I went to Claremont to check out Mary Linda's jewelry at the festival. She is really making some beautiful jewelry! Most of my jewelry is from Mary or something I made myself.

Art Clay Silver

I took the most fantastic class on Sunday at Brea Beadworks! We worked with Art Clay silver.
You can shape and stamp it like clay but after it's fired (by torch or in a kiln) you have fine silver! So you can make rings, chains, pendants, charms...what ever you want.

You can also get it in paste form and paint it over leaves. It is too cool!

This weekend I watched some of the old Agatha Christie Miss Marple movies on DVD. I borrowed them from Caren. These are so fun...just to look at the villages, hotels, manor houses and cottages.

I loved that Miss Marple wore the same hat in different fabrics and colors. I'm really into wearing hats now. I want to bring back that trend.

I also am dying (Ha, Ha) to go to England after watching these. I love the countryside and the flowers and the villages. My kind of place!

Wendie Monrroy on Main

A few days ago I went to meet Caren and Paul at Wendie's lovely shop. Sometimes they help out in her store. It's on Main Street near the Mission Inn in Riverside. It's full of gorgeous goodies!

Legally Blond and the Pantages

Wednesday night I went to see "Legally Blond" at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. It was a fun show.

Fun Weekend

Yesterday I went to see the play "Boomers" with the Lemon Blossom League. This was a really fun show with all the music we love and grew up with. It told the story of the Baby Boomers through music.

Lemon Blossoms wear pink and yellow.

The show was at Vangard University in Costa Mesa. Gorgeous weather yesterday.

On Saturday I went to Grandlunds in Yucaipa for tea with the Inland Empire Tea Society.

We had soup or salad, tea sandwiches, fruit and pastries.

Isn't this skirt cute? I love that double ruffle on the bottom. This week I thought I'd show some transition fashions to take us into fall. Here in So. California we don't get cool weather until the end of October or November but I like to pretend we have a change of seasons anyway. All these clothes are from Lane Bryant.

I like the abstract print on this top. It looks great for work or just being out and about.

This would really work here where it's still hot for awhile. Cute little dots and I love the long tie on the V neck.

Darling dressy top to go out to dinner in. I really like that lace collar.

I love lace and this teal color would be pretty. I like separates to mix and match with things I already have.

Another pretty lace top. This one has ruffles around the neckline. I almost bought this.

This is the one I bought. It looks alot better in person. I wore it last night to the Sheraton and got lots of compliments. Jennifer said the blue made my blue eyes "pop." The V neck front is smooth with double ruffle sleeves.

No, this isn't Hawaii. This is in San Diego. Sunday I'm going there for a mini vacation (one night). The band is playing there and some of us are going to see them.

It does remind me of Kauai.

A Cruise up the the Napali Coast

We took a dinner cruise with Captain Andy's Cruises. This was really fun and the second time I've done it. I'll do it again next time I go, too. If you go and get motion sickness be sure to take some meds for it. This is not a gentle little sail but it's tons of fun! It would be an E ticket ride at Disneyland if they still had E ticket rides. It's not scarey but it is bouncy and you'll probably get wet but who cares? The dinner buffet is good, too and the crew are really nice.

Lots of movies are filmed on the Napali Coast because it's so scenic!

Tomkats Grille

This is Tomkats Grille in Koloa ( I think Koloa...I can't find my guide book). Anyway it's a great place for sandwiches. Two actual cats reside there.

This guy walked around trying to get a taste from the diners.

This is Snowball. She slept under my feet the whole time we were there. My mission was to get Caren a T-shirt from there which couldn't be accomplished because they were all out of pretty colors. So I got her a pretty purple one in Hanalei.

Adventures in Paradise

Kauai is my favorite place...just everywhere is gorgeous! This is the front door to our Condo (graciously loaned to us by some very generous and lovely people...thanks Ray and Josie).

Fashion Friday and I'm Taking a Break

I'm taking a break until I get back from Kauai but I wanted to tell you about a great self-tanner.
I saw this on TV and had to try it. It works well and doesn't smell bad like some of them do. I wanted to have some color when I went to Hawaii. The fish belly white legs don't look so good on the beach and I don't want to get a real tan because of sun damage.

This is from Hawaiian Tropics. It costs about $10.00 and the color looks really nice. I thought I'd pass this on to you guys.

This is where we're going for July 4th. Sharon, Mary, Scott, Marie, Blaike, Johnny and I are going to stay here on Friday and Saturday.

I thought I'd show you some more cuties from Casual Living. I like the asymetrical floral on the skirt...just to make it a little different. The two sides make it "slimming" too.

The greens in this dress are pretty and look cool .

Almost a bandana print in this one. Cute detailing and a pretty border, too.

Now these are my colors...those peachy romantic hues with a floral print and flutter sleeves. Very pretty to wear to a summer wedding.

I like this more modern print in cool blue, too.

I like dresses and skirts alot since I'm short and have trouble getting pants to fit right. Men like them too!

Claremont Family Festival

I went to Claremont last night to the Claremont Family Festival. My sister, Mary Linda (above) sells her beautiful jewelry there. I bought a gift for Paul's mother's retirement party and something for my self (of course).
The festival is every Wednesday night. They have a lot of different crafts and artists, great food, and live bands. I'm so sorry I forgot my camera. Anyway it was a fun place to be.

Murder ot the Cafe Noir

Last night I went with a Meet-Up group to the Avila Terrace Theatre to see "Murder at the Cafe Noir." This was a comedy mystery dinner show. Great Fun! The cast was excellent! I met some nice people, too.

Cerritos Sheraton Last Night

The Cerritos Sheraton...the place to be on Thursday nights!

Yesterday I went to the Cerritos Sheraton to see my friend Will Donato and Steve Oliver perform. This is the entrance to the patio dining area where they were playing.Steve and Will on stage. This was a fabulous show!

Steve and Will did lots of original songs, smooth jazz and audience requests.

There was a dinner buffet for $8.95. Delicious and very reasonable price. This is my Caesar salad.

I went to see this yesterday! Very cute movie and it made me want to go to Greece. The scenery was gorgeous including the tour bus driver. I liked one of the things Richard Dreyfus said. He said "Stop looking for obstacles and look for the magic." I think that's going to be my motto right now.

I found these cute tops on line at Casual Living. The shirred top is so cute with white capris.

I love patchwork and this is going to be mine soon.

The one shoulder look but you can still wear a regular bra.

Cute ruffle top tee. The ruffles aren't too much...they just look dressy and feminine.

This is a two piece set: cardigan and matching tank. The picture below shows the print in better focus.

Another of my favorite things: bandana prints. I love this for the 4th of July.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Yorba Linda Farmers Market. So I'll let you know what it's like.

Monday at the Movies

I can't wait for this to come out! I love movies set in the thirties and forties and movies from that time period. This is about Dillinger and other "public enemies" from 1933-1934. It's starring Johnny Depp as Dillinger. I hope this is a good one...the trailer looked great.

I'm also reading the book by Bryan Burrough which came out in 2004. Of course now it has Johnny Depp's picture on the cover. Can you think of a better way to sell books? This one I actually bought new. I read so many books that I'm usually buying from the used book store here in town. This is a cheap way to go especially since I like mysteries and thrillers in paperback. I wanted to read this book first (and it's really interesting) so I would understand what's going on in the movie and historically too. It tells about the bank robbers and about how the FBI got started.

I thought I'd show you what I bought the other day to wear to Kobe's. I have this top which is chocolate brown (not black). I liked the little tie on the bottom...I'm still in Flapper mode.

I also got these in chocolate brown to go with them. If your top and bottom are the same color, it's supposed to make you look taller and slimmer. I need all the help I can get!

I'm debating about this dress. I would like it if it's not too "MuMu" and without those leggings. I don't have a problem with leggings with the right top but this doesn't need them. I'll have to try this dress on and see if it fits. I like the color alot.

Now this is my kind of style. Simple lines and something fun going on at the top. You wouldn't need a necklace of course. Throw it on and some shoes and you are out the door looking pretty pulled together.

This is really simple but if you look closely at the sleeves you'll see little rhinestone buttons. Even a plain Tee has to have "something!"

I love the embellishements on this top, too.

Nice feminine touch to this little tank.

Even the plain white Tee has lace at the bottom. This also comes in turquoise and in pink.

Sexy and dressy with the flutter sleeves. I love the blue, too.

Monday at the Movies

I've been hanging with Henry lately. This a fun way to learn your English history...not nearly as dry as The Oxford Illustrated History of Britain (Caren had it for a class). Like it says on the poster "It's good to be the King." They are pretty much bopping like bunnies.

It's filmed in Ireland and the scenery is wonderful, the costumes are gorgeous and Jonathan Rhys Meyers isn't bad to look at either. (See him in "Elvis" if you can...you won't regret it!).

I don't have Showtime so I missed it on TV. I bought Seasons 1 and 2. I am so hooked, I have to get Season 3 now.

Hi, I can put in pictures again! Yea!!! I went to see "the Band" at Kobe's Wednesday. It's a great place! Lots of fun and friendly people. AOS is playing there every other Wednesday this summer. Their next show is June 10. If you get a chance, come by and see them...you won't regret it!

Since it's Fashion Friday, I thought I'd start off with this cutie pie. I love the colors...maybe for my Hawaii trip.

I am in love with this dress! Pink for all you pink lovers. This dress is sexy and flirty with the little ruffle on the skirt.

This one I bought to wear dancing...maybe at Kobe's. I love the floral print on black.

These cute butterfly T shirts just say "Tropical Vacation" to me.

I love print Tanks with plain bottoms. This would look cute with white, black or even jeans.

This would make a cute cover-up at the beach or just to run around town on the hot days of summer.

I'M BACk!

This was a busy week! I promised I'd show you my flapper outfit for the Royal Regional Red Hat Queen's Council luncheon. This was last Sunday. It was lots of fun and I won three door prizes: the headband I'm wearing, a $25.00 gift certificate for jewelry, and earrings! They have lots of door prizes at our luncheons.

Then on Tuesday, Caren, Paul and I went to Laughlin to see my brother and his wife. We ate at Bob's Big Boy on the way there and back. Bob's lookin' a little lecherous.

This is what I won in Laughlin!! Over 300 dollars...I couldn't believe it because I never win. That's why I took a picture of it. I was in shock!

This is me with my handsome brother, Gary and his wife Shar. I took us all for a lobster dinner with my winnings. This is at The Steakhouse at the Tropicana Express.

Doheny Blues Festival

I'm really excited because I'm going to the Doheny Blues Festival on Saturday to see Brian Setzer and a bunch of other great musicians! I looove Brian Setzer. Loved Stray Cats, loved the Brian Setzer Orchestra and can't wait to see the new group.

I'm also thrilled because I won Cindy's giveaway. I won those fabulous candle scounces! Yahoo!

There are so many good things going on in my life that it's starting to scare me. You know when wonderful things happen and you're afraid something will go wrong cos maybe you don't deserve it?

I also had a great time at Kobe Steak House Wednesday night. I did get some pictures and will post them soon!

Sunday I'm going to the Royal Regional Queen's luncheon. It's a "Roaring Twenties" theme. I have a red fringed dress to wear. I'll take pictures of that, too. Then on Tuesday, Caren, Paul and I are going to Laughlin to visit my handsome brother and his lovely wife. This has been one busy week but lots of fun!

Dirty Dancing!!!!

Last night Carolyn and I went to see "Dirty Dancing" at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. I was so impressed with this production...I can't even say how fantastic it was! If you can go see it. The music, the dancing, the scenery are indescribable! The scenery and sets are like fantasmic (for all you Disneyites). They even have the dancing on the log scene over water!

I wish I could do that!

Next stop for this production is Broadway!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day. I found myself deserted (Caren had to work at Disneyland all day) so I went to see "The Band" AKA "Art of Sax." See pictures above of Eddie, Will and Steve. They have a new gig at Kobe Steak House in Seal Beach on Wednesday, May 13, at 7:30.

This is Kobe. They have music Wednesdays through Sundays. I'm going to check it out on Wednesday when AOS is playing. Kobe has gotten good reviews for food and music. I know AOS is great. I hope you can come and check it out too if you live nearby. AOS is a great band to support and if lots of people come they keep getting hired.

I thought I'd show you a few things I got for my trip to Hawaii in July. Everyone is having big sales right now and I had birthday money (my birthday was May 2). This top is from Torrid. I find cute things there even though Torrid is geared toward young women. This is a purple tie-dye with a lace edging on the bottom. I'll wear it with white capris.

This top is from Avenue. It has a pretty ribbon edging around the square neck. It's also a pretty aqua color.

This one is also from Avenue. I was looking for tropical prints. It's really kind of a deep pink color. I plan on living in tank tops and capris and knee length shorts. It's usually in the 80's in Kauai in July.

My New Dishes

These are my new cottage style dishes that I ordered from Montgomery Ward. I love them. The plates, bowls and mugs are huge! They are really sturdy and in pretty colors. The pink is pink not coral and the lavender in kind of a periwinkle color. I think they'd go at the beach house if we ever move.

I have no idea why we aren't moving. It's just frustrating to me to not have a real reason...just "I don't know." It's like talking to a wall. Why would you say you want to do something and then not do it? It makes no sense to me. Sorry I have to vent. Right now I'm just doing what I can to make myself happy...living my life as best I can. "My house" is still available but for how long?

We have our airline tickets and they actually cost less than when we went four years ago. Prices went up right after we bought our tickets (probably because of the swine flu scare). We got a great price on our tickets and we're borrowing a condo in Princeville from friends. So this tropical paradise trip is very budget friendly!

Kauai is my favorite place in all the world. It's so beautiful and relaxing and it's easy to drive all around because it's small.

I want to thank everyone for their kind comments while I was sick. I had the stomach flu. I'm feeling fine now.

I thought I'd show you some things from Aight.com. They have lots of cute, different things. Pretty detail on this pretty blue dress.

I like the detail on this skirt. It's not too full around the hips.

I think the waist detail is cool and it's elastic, too.

The patterns in this skirt are so pretty. It's a long skirt and would be fun to wear in the summer with a T or tank and sandals.

Monday at the Movies

We saw this in Claremont after Easter brunch. This was kind of funny and sweet and not as gross as I thought it would be. I liked it. The characters were really likeable especially Alan Arkin as the father. This isn't in my favorites category but still worth seeing.

Before we went to the movies Sharon, Mary Linda, our friend Kathy (who's 86), and I went to the Shilo Hilltop for Easter brunch. This place is in Pomona on the edge of Diamond Bar. It's a great place for Sunday brunch. I forgot my camera so these pictures are from their website. Art of Sax used to play there all the time for Sunday Brunch and on Friday and Saturday nights.

They had the "Smooth Brothers" playing yesterday and they were excellent.

This is inside where we were sitting by the windows. The food is fantastic. We're going back for Mothers' Day and I'll bring my camera. Usually we have a bunch of family and friends with us but work schedules messed that up. So we had girls' brunch out.

Saturday Don and I went to church to see Caren get baptised and join the Catholic church. I'm kind of non-denominational myself but I enjoyed being there. The service was very moving.

I like to get separates to mix and match together to create alot of outfits. I like my tops to have a little something extra: a cute trim, neckline, pretty fabric. I'm not into plain. This cute V-neck has pretty embroidery as an accent.

This pretty one has a touch of lace at the neckline. I also like the sprinkling of aqua throughout the black and white floral print.

I'm really not into turtlenecks but I thought this one was different. The bow at the neckline makes it stand out. I love red, too.

A crocheted accent at the sweetheart neckline makes this one pretty. It also has a cute sleeves.

On hot summer days this daring embroidered top will be showing off.

Pretty lace across the top and sleeves makes this dressy.

A "night out" top of black lace. Pair this with a black skirt or slacks and you can go out for cocktails or to a party. I would wear this to the Esmeralda. I'd like to buy this one but it's kind of expensive.

Pretty red tunic with a little feminine ruffle at the neckline. Elbow length sleeves make a great cover up for chubby arms.

Another pretty lavendar top with a ruffled accent on the V neck.

Red Cowboy Boots

I am really lusting after these to go with my red cowboy hat. Aren't they cute? I can't really justify the "Need" though. Is "I don't have any cowboy boots and these are adorable!" enough of a reason?

I thought I'd update you on Max and his teeth troubles. He is on steroids and the sores on his gums are healing. He can eat dry food again and prefers it to softened up dry food. Of course his favorites foods are of the canned variety. He's feeling a lot better but we'll see what happens when his steroid treatments end.

I'm feeling like "Meekie" this morning. I'd just like to kick back but I've got lots to do. She is a Queen afterall and I'm not. Before I get started I want to show you the red hat I got. We're going to the "Brandin' Iron" in San Bernardino and do some line dancing in May. So I had to get a cowboy hat. This cutie just came in the mail yesterday.

It has embroidered roses and sequin accents. When I have the rest of my outfit figured out and on me, I'll take pictures.

Monday at the Movies

I just saw this last night at the movies (I'm a little slow on the uptake). I wanted to see it in the theater before it was gone. I'm not exactly recommending it...because it really deserves it's R rating for sex, drugs and rock'n roll. The wrestling action was brutal at times. This would be a great movie even if a lot of the "R" stuff wasn't in it. Mickey Rourke deserves all the excellent reviews for his performance. I was crying at times because he really did such a great job.
I'm really liberal but I think this movie would have been just as good or better with a little restraint on the R stuff because some people won't see it because of that. And that's kind of a shame. Really all the actors were good and the story was very touching.

Party all Weekend!

Friday we had a birthday dinner at Marie's house for Heather's children Jeremy and Haley. This picture is of the beautiful cousins: Marie (on left) and Heather. They look like sisters. Marie is Mary Linda's daughter and Heather is Sharon's daughter.

A great fun time! We were so casual. We ordered pizza and I brought a salad. Scott opened the wine and we laughed all night. (We really only had a glass each.) We go to Scott's and Marie's for New Year's Eve and play games and visit half the night. It was like New Year's Eve Friday. We played a game sort of like password. We would look at a phrase and then describe it and/or act it out. The older kids had fun with it too. We're not very strict about rules as long as we're laughing!

Then on Saturday my chapter had a Red Hat Luncheon at Olive Garden. We are a tiny chapter and are still open to new members.

Me (Queen Susan), Diana, Faye, Carolyn (the Vice Queen...fitting since her husband is a retired deputy sheriff) and Martha. We're not that strict about hats either.

Diana and Faye. We only had a "taste" of free wine before lunch.

Carolyn and Martha. We laughed and talked in Olive Garden for over two hours. Then Faye, Carolyn, Martha and I went thrifting. No pictures of that little side trip...I was too busy checking out the goods.

Then Saturday night I went out to see the Band (my friends Art of Sax) in Indian Wells. No wonder I'm dragging today! I had to take a nap.

Fashion Friday Dresses Continued

I'm starting with my favorite from Kiyonna. Love the wrap and the pretty in pink color. It's the right length, covers chubby arms and shows a little cleavage. The only problem is that Kiyonna is not cheap. Their clothes are stylish and well made though.

I love the white collar and bow but I know if I bought this I's shorten it to knee length. I'm so short this would drag on the floor. This is from Roman's which is getting more "in" every day.

This is a pretty one from Jessica London. Very pretty but again I'd hem it up.

I'm thinking about this for the red hats. I love the ruffle on the bottom and it has corsages on it's left side too.

I just joined the Victorian Tea Society and I thought I'd show you the outfit I ordered. This is the hat I'm getting...a lot more "foo foo" than I wear with the red hats but I was in a "foo foo" mood.

Sorry I turned my back to you. No this isn't me and this isn't the color of my dress either. I'm getting tiny pink roses on a black background. I have kind of flat butt so I thought the back detail would be fun.

Now you can see the front. This is a two-piece outfit. The black parts will be black...only the print is different.

My friend Sharon wanted me to book a last-minute trip to Las Vegas and I'm really stressed out trying to find a good deal for a week-end. It's way too expensive! I'm now out of the mood because I'd rather spend the money on somewhere more fun. My brother lives in Laughlin and he would meet us in Vegas but I can go to Laughlin to see him for a fraction of the money. So I might just drive to Laughlin and say "Bye, Bye" to Vegas. Usually we go to Vegas in the summer when it's cheap because it is hotter than ...well you know! Typing this and venting is calming me down.

Monday at the Movies

I saw this movie this weekend and it is so funny! I was laughing out loud (rare for me) and snorting (not so rare)! It really shows some differences between men and women in truly hilarious ways. Be warned though, it is not for the super conservative because it does have an "R" rating and you will hear the "F" word and sexual comments. Remember it's a "man thing." It does have a rather sweet kind of story and Paul Rudd is his usual endearing self and both actors are outlandishly funny! Well most of the cast is outlandishly funny! Take your boyfriend or husband to it. It could provoke some interesting talks, too.

Village Inn on Balboa Island (2 Weeks Ago)

I thought I'd share some photos from the Village Inn on Balboa Island. Will's playing to the crowd. They have a tiny dance floor. Usually we have to move the chairs and tables back to create space to dance.

This is Eddie (with guitar) and his son Sean. Sean was a guest singer that night.Here's a bunch of us during break time. I forgot the name of the woman in blue. Then it's Eddie, Me, Will, my friend Carolyn, Jennifer (Eddie's girlfriend) and a young fan who is a friend of Jennifer and Eddie.

This is a really fun place to go on Sunday evenings with good, not expensive food. Everyone is friendly. And of course the music is great!

Today I'm going to the Riverside Air Show. I'm still waiting for my camera to be returned. It is on it's way. So I won't have pictures.

Fashion Friday Cute tops

Last week we talked about skirts so I thought I'd show you some cute tops to go with them. These are from Fashion Bug. All of them would look great with a black pencil skirt.

I'm trying to get away from so much black and white which is my old stand-by. I'm loving florals this spring.

But some black and white things just look great.

I just got a catalog from Montgomery Ward. I'm thinking about this computer desk. We need a new one. I like that you can close it all up and hide any messes. It's very inexpensive, too.

I also love these dishes which I don't need but want anyway. I've always liked fiesta ware and these are similar but I love the ridges on the cups, bowls and plate edges. The colors are pretty, too. Each set has all four colors.

I may have to stimulate the economy!

My Beach House (I'm thinking positively)

My kitchen. I'm thinking of painting the cabinets white because some of the doors are a little worn around the edges. That look is better on painted doors than woodgrain I think. I love the spaces above the cabinets that I can decorate with cute stuff.

The dining area. There is room for my farmhouse table. I'm thinking of two stools to go with the counter on the right side. I want to switch out the fan for a cute, casual chandelier. I also want to put casual floor length drapes on the window. They will probably match the ones in the living room.

Living room with fireplace and window showing. I love the French doors but I'm not sure what to do for privacy at night. The living room has a sky light too which I like also. I love light, light, light!

I love the fireplace: pretty and simple.

French doors are the front door. I don't mind the openess during the day but I want a little privacy at night. I love the white fence around my porch.

I love this place. I'm praying we can get it because it is my heart's desire. I don't care about a big, fancy mansion. I just want a little house by the ocean. I can walk to the beach in maybe five minutes max because it's right across the street.

This house has two bedrooms, an office, two bathrooms and a laundry room. Perfect size for us.

" Coastal Living" came out with a wonderful special magazine called "Total Beach House." There are some fabulous ideas and beautiful homes to look at. It was just my dream magazine. Fashion Friday Skirts

Today we're talking about skirts. I love wearing skirts because I'm short and I can usually find a flattering length in skirts. Sometimes pants are too long for me. I wear a lot of cropped pants so that the pants don't drag on the ground. Luckily I live in California so the weather isn't that much of a problem. A good basic skirt is the one above. The style is flattering on most people and black gives you lots of options. The length is great for everyone...not too short or long. It will always be in style.

A black pencil skirt is another good choice. I love pencil skirts. They look good with a variety of tops. I found a really nice black pencil skirt at Target for $20.00. It was even lined.

A denim pencil skirt is cute, too for more casual times. Black is better if you want to dress it up or down.

It's always fun to have a cute print skirt. When it's hot I wear print skirts with T shirts and sandals and maybe a belt to pull it together.

This would be a cute skirt to wear at Easter. My daughter bought this one. You could pull out one of the blue colors in the skirt for a top.

I just got my flapper costume for the Red Hat Luncheon in May. I ordered it early so that if it didn't fit or I didn't like it I could exchange it. It is really cute and fits perfectly. I still haven't got my camera back from San Diego or I'd take pictures. I'm going to wear a red sequined headband with purple and red feathers and a purple feathered boa. No cigarette holder though. Maybe I'll wear a red and purple garter, too.

I have pictures being done at CVS with a disc so I can post them on the blog. Sunday Carolyn and I went to see Art of Sax on Balboa Island so we took pictures with our friends in the band. I should have those pictures back by Friday so I'll post them Friday or Saturday.
Will's doing a show at 8 pm at Humphrey's Backstage in San Diego this coming Sunday, March 22. So if you're in the San Diego area please come by and see a great show!

Fashion Friday...Spring Florals

I'm in the mood for Spring. I bought these cute sandals at Avenue. I have a lot of black and white clothing.

Since it's Spring (at least here in CA) I wanted to show some floral dresses. These would be suitable for church and Easter Brunch. There are lots of cute florals that have more cleavage but I thought I'd show a more covered look on this post.

This is a 2-piece from Catherines. I think it's slimming with the long jacket over the sheath shown below.

You could wear other colored jackets and sweaters with this to jazz it up a bit. Maybe coral or turquoise would look cute. You could also wear some colorful jewelry.

This top is from Jessica London. It comes in navy or red to wear with a white pencil skirt. I know it's not floral but it would look nice on Easter. Another slimming look for a top. You could also go with navy top and navy pencil skirt for a longer, leaner look.

I love black and white florals. Very pretty border print. This is also from Jessica London. I hope you got some cute ideas for Easter outfits.
